What is Extraña?

This is Extraña´s logo, a woman just like us, full of vision and dreams, starting and continuing a new chapter abroad.

Extraña is the word in Spanish to say “strange woman” but also to say “she misses” something or someone

In 2023, I launched the Instagram profile SheGrowsGothenburg with the goal of supporting foreign women in Gothenburg looking to advance their corporate careers. At the time, I was also a full-time caregiver to my two young children, which made it difficult to maintain the energy and consistency required for social media. While the platform didn’t grow as planned, the mission behind it never left me.

Like many women who move abroad, I’ve experienced the feeling of starting over  professionally, personally, and emotionally. I’ve met countless others who, despite having built successful careers in their home countries, often feel invisible or sidelined in their new environment. Yet this transition also brings growth, a redefined identity, and the chance to evolve into something greater.

Recognizing the need for a more intentional, sustainable approach, I created Extraña. This is a slower and more thoughtful space for international women in Sweden. It’s designed as a community for self-care, professional development, and honoring our roots. Here we find representation, finally thoughts and experiences like ours. Extraña isn’t about chasing trends or algorithms. It’s about building connection, clarity, and growth on our own terms.

Now, a bit about myself

I live with my husband and two kids in the country side, north Gothenburg . Love to spend time with my family, and traveling, specially to my home country. I´m a fan of good design, business creation, and good conversations. Being a good friend is important for me. I´m curious by nature, and love learning multiple things. I´ve never had a single passion, neither clear career path. I get bored easily, love Indian and Mexican food. Living in Sweden has been a journey of self-discovery, the place where I started my family, and where I have learned what truly matters for me.

I truly hope you feel understood and identified in every article, event, and product I offer. Don´t forget to share the word about this blog, to any other women you think will find comfort in feeling Extraña.
